Over the past three weeks both Development squad and competition squads have been competing in the region at a number of competitions.
PHIL TIGHE COMPETITION COPLEY RECREATION CENTRE:
Most of the development squad competed in this two piece competition, age groups ranged from under 7’s to over 12’s, Bury gymnasts did exceptionally well in all age groups winning gold, silver, bronze and overall medals, an excellent result for all the young gymnasts who were competing for the first time.
NORTH WEST 2 PIECE COUNTIES COMPETITION WARRINGTON.
Again gymnasts from the competition squad won a variety of medals at different age groups, Nathan Flanagan and Charlie Barton won their age group becoming the Greater Manchester Overall Champions, also individual apparatus medals were won by Connor Rees, Jack Brooks, Harrison Radcliffe, excellent performances from Callum King-Chadwick, Jake Heyling, Luke Dunne completed a great day for Bury Gymnastics Club.
NORTH WEST TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS: WARRINGTON
Bury entered three age groups in the team championships: under10’s, under14’s and over 14’s, both the under 10’s and over 14’s won the silver medals and the under 14’s finished 4th just .50 off the bronze, good performances from the boys who now prepare for the Pegasus competition in June.
Under 10’s team: Niall Edgehill, Jack Headley-Chamberlain, Sam Bowden and Alex Lomax.
Under 14’s: Daniel Law, Rhys Hickman, Joe Spellacy
Over 14’s: Joshua Donohoe, Mason Whealing, Michael Finch, Josh Hogarth
.NATIONAL ELITE GRADES: LEICESTER 8TH MAY
Joe Spellacy, Rhys Hickman, Niall Edgehill, Sam Bowden, Alex Lomax and Jack Headley-Chamberlain will compete in the Elite competition, next month, this competition will select the best gymnast in the country to be selected for the Junior National Squad, good luck to all the gymnasts.
