Five Bury gymnasts competed in the Elite grades competition at the weekend.

Excellent performances from Mason and Joe earned them top places in the competition. Joe competing for the first time at the elite level finished sixth. Mason had a great competition finishing 4th in the country, with top scores on Vault and High Bar of 9.65 and 9.35 respectively.
Well done to the Competition 3 girls that competed in the North West general gymnastics floor and vault competition at Salford on Sunday 8th November. Congratulations to Casey Exley who came 2nd on floor and 2nd on vault and to Darcy Blamire who came 1st on vault in the under 9’s competition.
Eden Milner came 2nd on floor in the under 10’s competition and Amelia Bell came 1st on vault and 3rd on floor in the under 11’s competition. Also well done to Zoe Chandler who got 1st on vault and 3rd on floor and well done to Megan Graham who got 2nd on vault in the under 13’s competition. Finally a big well done to all the other girls who competed in the competition and produced outstanding performances.

On Sunday the 11th October, 12 girls from Competition 2 traveled to Copley recreation Centre to compete in the Greater Manchester 4 Piece Individual Championships.
After an early start the Pre-Novice under 12’s round began, beating the nerves Bethany, Taylor, Olivia and Rebecca put in solid performances. With a beautiful Vault, Taylor was awarded her bronze medal which was thoroughly deserved.
In the next round the level 3 gymnasts competed, including Meagan Roberts. After helping out scoring in the first round Megan began her competition. Producing neat routines Meagan had a good competition, even performing her tucked back somersault on the beam which she was really nervous about. Meagan finished her competition and was placed 3rd on bars and beam and 4th on floor, vault and overall.
In the final round of the day we had two groups of gymnasts competing, pre-novice under 12’s and novice under 12’s. With the help of Meagan, showing numbers and being a general all round good egg the girls all had a good competition.
In the pre-novice under 12’s Ashley, Mollie, Elly, Emma and Ellen all appeared calm and chilled out throughout the competition and this obviously helped as they achieved brilliant results. Ashley finished 2nd on vault and narrowly missed a medal on bars finishing in 4th. Elly had an amazing competition performing a gorgeous floor routine and a clean beam routine which placed her in silver medal position on both pieces, she also narrowly missed out on 3rd place overall.
Lucy and Charlotte competed in their first novice competition, although very nervous the girls gave good performances and managed to score well. Beating her own demons Lucy performed her flick on the beam, which many will know took a lot of bottle and determination. Charlotte put in a consistent performance on all pieces and I am sure the girls will continue to improve in this competition.
I was incredibly proud of all the girls who competed, they conducted themselves in a grown-up manner and were great representatives for the club. A special thank you must be given to Meagan Roberts who performed several jobs throughout the day as well as putting in her own good performance, being a scorer, a gymnast, a coach and motivator – Thank you. Well done girls, keep up the hard work!!!
