On Tuesday 21st October, the planning committee of Bury Metro Council met to consider our application for a new gymnastics centre on the Goshen site.
The fact that the Chair allowed two people to speak against the application increased the tension by a factor of ten for me. (I've done lots of things in my life. Even stood on stage and sung to a couple of thousand people but this one really had my knees knocking.)
Despite opposition from some local residents, who undoubtedly had their own concerns, permission was granted unanimously. I doubt that I need to say that this is the best news that we as a club have ever recieved.
We have come so far in the past few months it's hard to imagine what we may achieve with this fantastic new facility.
I owe my sincere thanks to a team of people who have worked so hard to give me the chance to be so spooked.
The fact that so many councillors supported the application simply reinforces all we have worked towards for so long.
Please help us achieve our dream.
Mike.
